In 1989, the Spectator was founded as the conservative newsmagazine of Washington and Lee University, seeking to illuminate the truth about campus issues and often challenging the illiberal policies of the administration. After some time however, the Spectator ceased printing. Now more than ever, Washington and Lee needs a conservative student publication once again. We have high hopes that the Spectator can become that publication.
Our Mission
To serve as a forum for student opinion and to comment on University life while maintaining a traditional outlook and advocating a classic liberal education.
Donations
The Spectator does not receive any funding from the University, relying completely on outside support. If you wish to contribute, please email [email protected]. all checks should be made out to Washington and Lee Spectator. Thank you!
